Wednesday – Saturday, 12:00-18:00
Elin Mar Øyen Vister is based on the island of Røst, where she works as an artist and heads the Røst Artist in Residence – an artist workshop with an ecological profile. Vister explores the impact of the climate crisis on nature, with focus on the decline in bird populations and has participated in exhibitions at museums around the world with her sound works and films. Vedøya – Lament for Bird Mountain which is silenced is her latest major performance, where the voices of both the Black-legged Kittiwake and humans are mixed with images, compositions, and dance. She will hold a lecture, show excerpts from this work, and take us on a walking tour through the fishing village. Galleri 2 will offer a sound-workshop and possibly an outdoor sculpture.
Galleri 2 Artists Vebjørg Hagene Thoe and Scott Thoe run their gallery in an old laundry on the outskirts of Stamsund, where they also have a studio. Here they show 3-4 exhibitions of invited artists each year, the opening of the Theatre Festival being the season’s highlight. They collaborate with a number of artist institutions: Kunstkvarteret Lofoten, Lofoten Art Galleries, a network of professional galleries in Lofoten, and The cultural napsack for school children (Den kulturelle skolesekken). A number of exhibitions and workshops are offered to school children in the gallery.
