SLAP!

Slapstick is a style of comedy based on over-the-top physical collisions, coincidences, and antics. More often than not, someone gets hurt. In SLAP!, we approached this theme in both a literal and an abstract way. Depending on the viewer, the piece is perhaps a comedy, a tragedy, or something in between.Slapstick has also driven us to reflect on the themes of trial and error. There are many serious crises in the world today, and we often feel frustrated by our seemingly meager ability to tackle these problems, let alone solve them. SLAP! explores our powerlessness through gentle humor and absurdity. While our attempts at collaboration can sometimes appear pathetic, on a cosmic scale, they are also quite amusing. In the end, however, the question remains: after all the trial and error, is there a genuine motivation behind it all—a desire for connection, a desire for good?
